Unnamed New Concept
New unnamed restaurant concept opening in the former Mutiny Bar space. Owners are planning a ‘refreshing and rebranding’ of the space. Details on the new concept have not yet been revealed.
Kyuu Cafe
New coffee shop and matcha bar coming to Shelby Township. Co-owner Martin Yono hopes to have a soft opening in mid-to-late March. The name means 9 in Japanese and they will serve specialty matchas and coffees made in-house. Currently hiring baristas and working through inspections.
Hopcat
Hopcat opening their 12th Michigan location at Great Lakes Crossing outlets. Space designed for 300 guests near entry 6 of the mall, close to AMC Star Theater. Chain known for craft beer and comfort food.
The Brunch Guy
New brunch restaurant from The Bread Gal bakery owner, featuring omelets and eggs Benedict including the signature ‘Big Hot Benny’ with fried chicken thighs, pickles and hot honey. Space seats about 100 and menu ranges from $5-30.
Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box is returning to Michigan after closing all locations in the 1970s and early 1980s. This Battle Creek location will be the first back in the state.
Next Quest Brewing
Medieval-themed brewery and restaurant converting a former church building. Plans include castle-like atmosphere, medieval video games, potential escape room, and programming like yoga sessions and children’s activities.
The Mather Inn
Restaurant at The Mather Inn that received Restaurant Start-Up Assistance Grant from Ishpeming DDA and is expected to open later in 2026
Residence Inn by Marriott
Five-story, 128-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel with $40 million development cost. Developed by Grand Rapids-based BDR Inc. and Zeeland-based 6PM Hospitality Partners LLC. Construction to begin in spring 2026 after demolition of former bank office.

Pennsylvania-based gas station company expanding with 14 new locations across Metro Detroit. Locations in Eastpointe, Novi, Fraser and Taylor currently under construction. Serves food menu including burgers, salads, and wraps available 24 hours.
