Bay Grill is a new restaurant opening in East Bay Plaza retail center. Planning review documents have been submitted by Yany Grill LLC. Expected to serve grilled meats and seafood based on the name.

Mattison’s at Valencia Lakes

Fifth location for Mattison’s restaurant family, helmed by Executive Chef Paul Mattison. Plan review paperwork has been submitted for the new location in the Valencia Lakes 55+ community.

Chicago’s Pizza Kitchen

Chicago-style deep-dish pizza restaurant expanding from Seattle to Tacoma. Located near I-5 at corner of 56th and M Street. Owner says opening timeline unclear but ‘hopefully very soon’.

Outer Dark Coffee Co.

Coffee roaster planning to open a dedicated production roastery in downtown Tacoma, with hints at a second downtown cafe also in the works. Company already has flagship cafe that opened in July 2024.

Gritz N Gravy

All-day breakfast spot run by Jamie and Trevor Metz with 30 years of restaurant experience. Features grit-based dishes, breakfast items, burgers, paninis and salads. Recently approved for liquor license. Plans to operate 7am-3pm daily.

Cove’s Cookies

Pop-up cookie concept planning to open brick-and-mortar bakery location. Known for large homemade cookies with rotating monthly flavors. Plans to expand menu with banana breads and cinnamon rolls at new location.

Garlic Crush

Fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant opening fifth location. Lebanese-style street food with menu featuring gyro, kebabs, shawarma, and other Mediterranean dishes. Will have modern design with unique art celebrating company history.

Reggie & Maude’s

New bar concept from Outta Sight Pizza owners moving into former Pomeroy Bar & Grill space. Will serve classic bar fare including burgers and martinis at approachable prices. Named after early leaders in San Francisco’s sex workers’ rights movement.

North Italia

North Italia’s first Bay Area location opening at Plaza Escuela. 8,500+ sq ft space seating 200+ guests with indoor dining and outdoor bar. Features house-made Italian dishes, hand-tossed pizzas, and craft cocktails. Currently hiring through March 8.

Kiri

Japanese pop-up restaurant transitioning to brick-and-mortar serving Japanese-inspired pub-style dishes including sashimi, beef teriyaki, and fresh seafood in a casual, homelike environment. Owners are former Rintaro employees funding buildout through Kickstarter campaign.
