Family-run coffee shop opening first location in Greater Houston region. $200,000 construction project on 1600 sq ft space. Menu will feature specialty coffee, espresso drinks, handcrafted lattes, teas, fresh baked goods, and light breakfast/brunch options.

16 Handles ice cream/frozen yogurt shop opening in Pin Oak Plaza. Construction slated to start in March and wrap up by end of May. Franchisee Garett Francis opening with his wife. Self-serve fro-yo concept with customizable desserts, smoothies, milkshakes.

Comfort Foodies is expanding to Missouri City with a 3,000 square foot location offering Southern Soul food and Dominican-Caribbean flavors. The new location will seat 50-60 guests and introduce a full bar and happy hour offerings for the first time. Founded by Afro-Latina chef Elsa and her husband Jeff Matthews.

El Trompo Loco #4

Fourth location of El Trompo Loco family restaurant chain specializing in authentic Mexican food including Trompo (pork meat cooked Monterrey style), Mexican hamburgers, and baked potatoes. Owner transitioning from food truck to brick-and-mortar in same shopping center.

Honest Mary’s

Second Houston location of Austin-born healthy dining concept opening in new Greenside development. Offers customizable bowls with organic ingredients, no artificial ingredients, no refined sugars, and no hormone-loaded meat. Buildout begins spring 2026.

Belkis Bistro

Venezuelan food truck expanding to brick-and-mortar restaurant location. Owner hopes to open in about two weeks pending inspections. Will serve similar menu items as food truck including stuffed arepas, crispy tequenos and golden empanadas.

Vita’s Cakery

Vita’s Cakery owner transitioning from home-based custom baking business to first brick-and-mortar bakery storefront. Will serve ready-to-go desserts and specialty coffees. Address and specific opening date not yet released.

Unnamed New Concept

New unnamed restaurant concept opening in the former Mutiny Bar space. Owners are planning a ‘refreshing and rebranding’ of the space. Details on the new concept have not yet been revealed.

Kyuu Cafe

New coffee shop and matcha bar coming to Shelby Township. Co-owner Martin Yono hopes to have a soft opening in mid-to-late March. The name means 9 in Japanese and they will serve specialty matchas and coffees made in-house. Currently hiring baristas and working through inspections.

Hopcat

Hopcat opening their 12th Michigan location at Great Lakes Crossing outlets. Space designed for 300 guests near entry 6 of the mall, close to AMC Star Theater. Chain known for craft beer and comfort food.
