Fourth location of local pizza and grinder chain opening in Kalamazoo County. Family-owned business expanding with pickup and delivery-based service, also serving ice cream. Dedication planned for May 3, grand opening May 4.

LivSmart Studios by Hilton

100-room extended stay hotel proposed by Metro Detroit-based Azok Group. Four-story building with 330-350 sq ft units featuring kitchenettes, flexible living areas, fitness room, grab-and-go breakfast, and 104 parking spaces. Planning commission postponed consideration pending zoning variance.

DeVos Place Convention Hotel

600-room convention hotel expansion of DeVos Place, up from previously considered 478 rooms. High-end, full-service hotel intended to operate under a national brand. Project estimated at $354.9 million with 43,000 square feet of meeting space including 20,000-square-foot grand ballroom.

Big Moe’s Kitchen

Big Moe’s Kitchen is opening their ninth location in Detroit, taking over the former Motown Brunch House space. The restaurant offers wings, wraps, subs, rice bowls and salads, with signature dishes including bam bam shrimp and smoked brisket sandwich.

Poki Toki

Fourth location of Grand Rapids-based poke bowl restaurant opening in Crystal Springs neighborhood. Fast-casual Asian concept offering customizable poke bowls with fresh ingredients.

Bowerbird Social

All-day cafe planned by co-owners Brent and Kelley Krahn who live above the space. Will serve coffees and pastries initially, with plans to add wine bar later. Currently in preliminary stages with interior work and inspections underway.

Famous burger joint under new ownership by Noah and Ethan Kaplan, reopening after renovations with mostly the same menu plus more vegetarian options and partnership with Mothfire Brewing for custom beers
