Capellini’s Classic Italian

Chef Mike Cordero (of Carbonara) is opening Capellini’s Classic Italian, a 3,500 sq ft old-school Northern Italian scratch kitchen with modern flair, seating 75 indoors and 80 outdoors. Taking over the former Rebel Taco Cantina space. Targeting early Fall 2026 opening.

Ovoka Farm

Ovoka Farm, a Virginia wagyu beef farm, is opening a reservation-only wine and dining tasting room inside a historic manor home. The experience will feature F1 wagyu beef paired with Virginia wines, with a focus on hyper-local, farm-to-table sourcing. Opening June 13, 2026, running through weekends. Reservations are already live on their website.

Roots Natural Kitchen

Charlottesville-born salad and grain bowl chain opening its fourth area location in Richmond. Known for salads and grain bowls, with locations in college towns along the East Coast.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi

Fast-casual Japanese hibachi restaurant taking over former Kovi Kitchen space in Battlefield Shopping Center. Sign has been installed on exterior facade but construction/prep work still underway. No opening date announced yet. Menu includes hibachi dishes, noodle dishes, bento boxes, poke bowls, and sushi rolls.

Honeygrow, a Philadelphia-founded fast-casual stir fry chain, is preparing to open a new location at 5063 Wellington Road in Gainesville, Virginia. No firm opening date has been announced, but the company website lists it as ‘coming soon’. This will be part of their DMV expansion; they currently operate 76 locations across 8 states.
