Cielo Supermarket
Family-owned Mexican specialty grocery chain opening second location in Highland Square Shopping Center. Will feature full-service grocery with prepared foods, in-store dining, taqueria, tortilleria, and various departments including produce, meat, deli, and bakery.
Il Porto
Waterfront cafe at Alcatraz Landing ferry pier, 3,700-square-foot space with outdoor patio, will serve beer, wine and spirits. Owner is tech investor turned restaurateur behind Il Parco and Colibri.
Claws of Mantis
Vietnamese pop-up Claws of Mantis (shortening name to Mantis) will partner with Fat Cat wine club in former Outer Orbit space. Chef Kevin Tang plans to serve Southern Vietnamese dishes like fried branzino with mango salad after returning from Vietnam trip.

Filipino bakery and restaurant opening two new Bay Area locations called ‘Ling Nam Express’. Union City location targeting June opening, South San Francisco location also planned at 231 Grand Ave with construction begun but no target date given.

Michoacan-style carnitas restaurant taking over former Gabriella’s Pizza space. Chain with 21 locations across California and Nevada. Will serve carnitas by the pound, tacos, burritos and combos with accessible pricing.

Second location of Betty Wine Bar + Bistro expanding to East Sacramento. Will operate as an all-day European-style bistro with coffee program, pastries, wine and food including green curry ceviche, bucatini all’amatriciana, and Thai beef carpaccio. Plans to add kitchen hood for burger and moules-frites.
