SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn by Marriott

Five-story dual-brand Marriott hotel with 152 rooms total featuring SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn brands. Part of $175 million District 1860 mixed-use development on 8.25 acres. Managed by Lakhani Hospitality. Will bring 30 permanent jobs and $200,000 in new tax revenue.

Ruby Hotel

412-room Ruby Hotel by IHG Hotels & Resorts in historic 22-story building in Streeterville. Would be first Ruby Hotel brand in the United States. Former Inn of Chicago building.

Extended-Stay Hotel

Extended-stay hotel with minimum 90 suites in four-story structure, developed by Pojo Limited Partnership and Sunrise Hospitality Inc. Located on former Howard Johnson’s site.

Bally’s Casino

34-story, 500-room casino hotel tower in River West along the Chicago River. Construction is actively underway with crews working on the 15th floor and first glass curtain wall panels being installed.

Axum Cafe

Ethiopian coffee cafe opening next to Axum Ethiopian Restaurant in Edgewater. Owner recently signed lease and is working with interior designer. Will serve traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony to espresso, fresh juices, and light bites.

Emerald Social

New tap house and food truck park concept from owners of Emerald Cup mobile coffee shop. Will feature outdoor seating, games area, local breweries on tap, and Pizza di Farfalla food service. Ground breaking timing still being determined.

4 Suns Plant Based Kitchen

Full-service restaurant planned by 4 Suns Fresh Juice owner at corner of Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue. Money is still being raised for the new location. Will operate alongside existing Wild Onion Market kitchen.

Sabor Cardonita

Food truck serving Puerto Rican and Colombian cuisine. Owner is determining specific location in Waukegan and waiting for permits before opening in 1-2 months.

Kilwins

Kilwins franchised location opening in Burr Ridge Village Center, serving fudge, ice cream, caramel apples, and other desserts. Franchisees are Nikit Tailor and Mayank Jethva. Construction is ahead of schedule.

Gilda

New Basque-inspired restaurant opening in West Town Chicago, featuring Basque dishes with Chicago twists like Malort grilled cheese and pintxos. Located in former Chi-Latin space. Renovations underway until opening.
